The Cape Verde Islands are placed about 1000 miles from the equator and have an almost perfect climate. Temperatures are stable, between 22o and 30o centigrade all year round, and there are no hurricanes to contend with, so you have an almost perfect Caribbean climate with none of the associated problems.

What's more, there is probably no better place in the world to train for triathlon over the winter, with ocean temperatures that rarely dip below 21o and a friendly population who don't try to run bikers off the road.

One of the reasons is that the main road through the island (below) is 4 lanes of virtually deserted highway.  If you wish, you can even get an idea of what it's like doing the Paris-Rubaix as most of the roads in the towns are cobbled and made out of volcanic rock. Sal is not particularly hilly but because of a few steep rises and a sometimes

For run training you can choose to do drills on a floodlit football pitch or run bare foot over soft sand dunes. You can even run 10 to 20 km on the road and then dive headlong into the soothing waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

We are based on the Island of Sal, which is the island

with the greatest infrastructure at this point, who's main town of Santa Maria covers one complete end of the Island. The town has probably the finest, sandiest and cleanest beaches you could wish to run on.

Murdeira Village is about 10km from the airport and about 10km from Santa Maria.

It has a 30m 6 lane salt water pool (above right)  - so you get used to sea swimming, a gym and sports centre plus small select beaches for easy open water swimming. You can choose from beach front villas or Hotel rooms and there's a full range of catering options, from self catering (villas only) to full board.
One of the nicest trips is to cycle to the beach club in Santa Maria, walk across the sandy beach to dive into the ocean for a swim in the blue waters, go for a run along the beach. Cool down in the water again and then have a bite of lunch at the club before cycling back.

You may even like to cycle to Santa Maria and have a kite surfing lesson (around 50 Euros per 2 hours) as this is one of the wind and kite surfing capitals of the world. You can also SCUBA dive, as this if fast becoming a hot destination for divers, with accessible wrecks only a short distance from shore.

Coaching can be individual or group led and can be designed to your specific needs. The very nature of the islands means that all levels of ability can maximise their training and get the most from the camp.

Your family or partner won't miss out either. The beaches are inviting and the pool at Murdeira is clean and has a large childrens pool for maximum family fun. Trips into the towns can be arranged via taxi or by using the small local busses at only 1 euro per person.

There is a very African influence in the restaurants and shops around the island. The Euro is accepted everywhere but credit cards are only accepted in a few shops.
