Positioned half way between the airport and Santa Maria, Murdeira village is the ideal place for triathlon training. Unlike in Santa Maria there is no traffic in the ocean, wind and kite surfers learning on the beach and boats ferrying divers, sightseers and fishermen to and from the beach. 

You can choose to start a ride with or against the wind to vary the intensity from the start of any ride to gain a different training effect.  The complex has a well stocked gym that you can make 

use of for strength work and a football pitch and tennis court for skills and drills training - or even for playing tennis.

The complex itself is not only populated by holiday makers but is home to many locals working in Espargos or Santa Maria, so you mix with a wide variety of people, helping to give you a real flavour of Cape Verde. The sandy bay (above) is one of the nicest on the island and there are other beach areas suitable for swimming and bathing which are excellent for starting open water swims.
